Fisheries planning

LFFA provides technical support to member First Nations through pre-season, in-season and post-season fishing.

Pre-season

In 2017, the Lower Fraser Fisheries Alliance adopted a mandate to develop an annual Consolidated Fishing Plan. This purpose of this CFP is to prepare a comprehensive fisheries plan based on conservation and harvest that is reflective of the values and perspectives of Lower Fraser First Nations. It acts as a statement of intent for the current fishing season and helps us move towards a fishery that works for everyone.

In-season

LFFA provides coordination, communication, negotiation and technical support for Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings. Technical staff help to equip Nations as they advocate for rights-based planning, and also conduct stock assessments.

Post-season

Together, LFFA member Nations review what happened in season and issue reports to help inform future fisheries.
