Eulachon assessment
Eulachon, the first fish to return to the Fraser River after winter, have been culturally important to the lower Fraser First Nations since time immemorial.
The Eulachon Assessment Survey has been conducted annually by the LFFA since 2017 and is the only in-season assessment fishery that aims to estimate annual returns of eulachon to the Fraser.
There are three components of the project (an assessment survey, exploratory survey, and hydro acoustic survey) all of which inform a final report which is shared with member Nations and DFO.
